Rocco
Rocco was surrendered to the Kentuckiana Pug Rescue due to aggressive behavior including biting. He had been crated for long hours during the day and put back in the crate alone at night. I fostered him and thought love and freedom would cure his behavior issues. Instead he progressively got worse and attacked me and a friend. His attacks were mostly based on trying to get non food items away from him. I asked the rescue to get him behavior training and they agreed. One of our members volunteers at the Humane Society and she recommended I contact them. Through them I was referred to Allison who evaluated Rocco and gave recommendations on addressing his aggression. Allison recommended using clicker training. Rocco showed improvement in the first week and after a month of training his aggression decreased markedly. I was worried about having people over for the holidays, but Rocco was a true gentleman and on his best behavior. I highly recommend Allison and clicker training!

Ella
Squeaky toys, crate, puppy food, treats, leash, collar…Check list complete, except for the missing puppy! Everything was in place, and the excitement of bringing home Ella, a 4 month old Lab mix from the shelter, was going to be the answer to soothing the sting of grief from the passing of our 14 year old dog Goldy. At first, Ella made us laugh at her cute antics but she proved to be relentless and we quickly grew tired of the biting, chewing, and poor leash manners. Reality had hit. We couldn't keep her. I made calls to the shelter to figure out how to return this new found bundle of not so cute energy. The phone calls landed my son and I in the Manners I class offered by the Kentucky Humane Society taught by Allison. Through the next six weeks Ella learned boundaries within her new home, learned how to walk on a leash, and we learned how to appropriately deal with unwanted behavior. Because of this class and its leadership we fell back in love with our puppy. The extra help and counseling we received through this class was so beneficial and pertinent to us keeping Ella. Because of the Manners I class, we have a puppy that brings us much happiness and joy, and in return Ella has a new home and family to love forever. Thank you for offering this class and for all of the extra supportive information, and to Allison who has made life with Ella a joyous occasion and not another heart ache. We look forward to the Manners II class.
Thank you again,

Nigel
Nigel is a real testimony to Allison’s capabilities. As a puppy, he had severe separation anxiety and was OCD. He had chewed up doors, windows, furniture anything that got in the way of his attempting to get to us. His vet had recommended medicating him, which I was willing to try. The medication was successful in making him loopy, but once they were off he was back to his old ways.
Lucky for us we learned about Allison. Allison worked one on one with us, coming to our home to help determine what triggered Nigel’s inappropriate behavior. She uses positive behavior reinforcement and helped direct us to some homeopathic remedies instead of the chemical treatments. Nigel is now a happy, well adjusted boy who brings joy into our lives every day.

Ginger and Rusty
All Brittany owners well know what a handful it is to own one. They are among the most intelligent and sweetest family-oriented dogs there are. They are also very vacillicating, energetic and stubborn. It is the latter three characteristics (especially the vacillating part) that sometimes makes them a challenge to train. Fortunately, Allison is an expert in this breed owning several of them and being a major player in national Brittany rescue for many years. Her "positive reinforcement" policy worked wonders with our two, and with Britts being so submissive, is really the only way you can go without breaking their spirit. Allison not only worked with them, but also with us to maintain their training.
We have also been fortunate to have worked with Allison for several years in Brittany rescue and have witnessed firsthand the miracles she works with this breed. She has taken totally dysfunctional Britts and rehabed them into perfect family pets. She truly is a miracle worker.

Gabby
Thank you so much for the assistance you gave me with Gabby. She is a different dog already, she is doing great and she is so much easier to handle. When we went to doggy day care today, she actually WALKED in without pulling us in the building. Thanks again and I am giving your name to all my friends.

The Brood
I met Allison through her husband Shawn, who knew I was having issues with my three-dog household. We spoke on the phone and made an appointment for a home visit on a Sunday morning. I think she could see from the minute she knocked on the door, that help was needed!
In the time she spent with me, she was incredibly patient and gave me numerous recommendations that were sometimes simple ideas that I never would have thought about had I not had her insight and experience to guide me. I know that I am the one in need of the most training, but she politely did not point that out. The time we spent working with my brood, has made a marked difference in our daily interactions. I would definitely recommend Allison to anyone who wants or needs some assistance in making the most of their animal family.
